“I’ve never had weave, fake nails, fake eyelashes or anything else artificial added in order to “complete” myself”
why make the assumption that one who has a weave, fake nails, fake eyelashes, or anything else artificial as a mode of self-expression or just for the hell of it are doing it in hopes of “completing” themselves? i’d rather a processed (weave-added, colored, and straightened) head and a natural mind than a natural head and a processed mind (thanks, erykah).
moving on.
“Obama is the worst thing to happen to America since Ugg boots”
….
there really isn’t much reason for me to waste my finger energy typing and arguing this foolishness but the one thing i will say is lately i have realized how many people i have been close with in my years (people i often called friends, allies, etc.) i am on a totally different page of.
i honestly could care less what political affiliation you are (as long as you can back it up with a good argument) as i think people transcend the party they affiliate themselves with (a two party system leaves for a lot to transcend), but as i have matured i see the underlying discrimination and ignorance in much of the thinking of these people, many of which i still call my friends. this is not to sound pompous or put myself on any pedestal what-so-ever, as i feel ignorance is a state of not-knowing/ understanding and we must not be focused on judging the ignorant as much as we should be enlightening them and providing access for the understanding that needs to happen. i truly feel like i am meant to be the place that i am in, straddling the line between two societies - one of my conservative, working class, segregated hometown in georgia and my extremely liberal, middle/ upper class university situated in a city i would often times argue more segregated than the small town my parents still call home. it takes a particular type of skill (and patience) to occupy both of these spaces i feel, and all-in-all, i am happy to be in the place that i am in.
